The Deputy Provost and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs has responsibility for a broad range of academic units that are dedicated to supporting undergraduate and graduate student success. This includes providing strategic leadership in advising, high-impact student experiences, leadership and professional development opportunities for students, and an exploration of how time spent outside the classroom in extracurricular and co-curricular activities supports our goals in the areas of teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and impact on society.
Advising
An all-inclusive resource center to help students navigate choosing courses, learn about student organizations, explore majors, seeking academic support, supporting overall wellbeing, and much more.
Citizen Scholar Development
The Office of Citizen Scholar Development is the fellowships office of the University and use the process of applying for fellowships as a catalyst to further the development of students and alumni as citizens and scholars.
Internship Placement Program
UVA connects students with quality professional internships in public sector and private industry organizations in Charlottesville as an important part of its public service mission.
PhD+
A university-wide initiative to prepare PhD students and postdoctoral scholars across all disciplines for long-term career success. The program goal is to enable versatile academics who are deeply engaged with society’s needs to become influential professionals in every sector and field.

Undergraduate Education collaborates with academic and student affairs units to ensure that all undergraduates, regardless of their backgrounds or prior experiences, have opportunities to thrive at UVA.

The Office of Undergraduate Research offers services to undergraduates interested in research including personal consultations, informational sessions, workshops, forums for presentations, a database of research opportunities, and administration of research grants.

University Seminars
